【摘要】:Thispracticeisaprescriptivesetofinstallationmethodstobeusedforsuspendedceilingsandisoftenusedinlieuofdesigningaseparatelateralrestraintsystem.Theauthorityhavingjurisdictionshalldeterminetheapplicabilityofthispracticetolocalcoderequirements.ThispracticecoversinstallationofsuspendedceilingsystemsandrelatedcomponentsinareasthatrequireresistancetotheeffectsofearthquakemotionsasdefinedbyASCE7andtheInternationalBuildingCode.Thepracticeisbrokenintotwomainsections.Thefirstsectioncoversareaswithlighttomoderateearthquakepotential(SeismicDesignCategoryC)whiletheseconddealswithsevereearthquakepotential(SeismicDesignCategoryD,Ex0026;F).Thispracticeincludesrequirementsfrommultiplesourcesincludingpreviousversionsofthispractice,CISCASeismicRecommendationsforDirect-hungAcousticalTileandLay-inCeilings,SeismicZones0-2andCISCAGuidelinesforSeismicRestraintforDirectHungSuspendedCeilingAssemblies,SeismicZones3x0026;4,suspendedceilingrequirementsfromtheInternationalBuildingCodeandASCE7.Thepurposeistocombinetherequirementsfromthesesourcesintoasinglecomprehensivedocument.1.1Thispracticecoverstheinstallationofsuspendedsystemsforacousticaltileandlay-inpanelsandtheiradditionalrequirementsfortwogroupsofbuildingsthatareconstructedtoresisttheeffectsofearthquakemotionsasdefinedbyASCE7andtheInternationalBuildingCode.ThesegroupingsareforSeismicDesignCategoryCandSeismicDesignCategoriesD,EandF.1.2Theauthorityhavingjurisdictionshalldeterminetheapplicabilityofthispractice.1.3SpecificationC635andPracticeC636coversuspensionsystemsandtheirinstallationwithoutspecialregardtoseismiclateralrestraintneeds.Theyremainapplicableandshallbefollowedwhenthispracticeisspecified.1.4Thispracticeisnotintendedtostifleresearchanddevelopmentofnewproductsormethods.Thispracticeisnotintendedtopreventtheinstallationofanymaterialorprohibitanydesignormethodofconstructionnotprescribedinthispractice,providedthatanysuchalternativehasbeensubstantiatedbyverifiableengineeringdataorfull-scaledynamictestingthatisacceptabletotheauthorityhavingjurisdiction.1.5Ceilingareasof1000ft2[92.9m2]orlessshallbeexemptfromthelateralforcebracingrequirementsof5.2.8.1.6Ceilingsconstructedofgypsumboardwhichisscrewornailattachedtosuspendedmembersthatsupportaceilingononelevelextendingfromwalltowallshallbeexemptfromtherequirementsofthispractice.1.7Freefloatingceilings(thosenotattacheddirectlytoanystructuralwalls)supportedbychainsorcablesfromthestructurearenotrequiredtosatisfytheseismicforcerequirementsprovidedtheymeetthefollowingrequirements:1.7.1Thedesignloadforsuchitemsshallequal1.4timestheverticaloperatingweight.1.7.2Seismicinteractioneffectsshallbeconsideredinaccordancewith5.7.1.7.3Theconnectiontothestructureshallallowa360x00B0;rangeofmotioninthehorizontalplane.1.8Thevaluesstatedineitherinch-poundorSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Withinthetext,theSIunitsareshowninbrackets.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemarenotexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsresultinnonconformancewiththespecification.1.9
